How it works

60 months of legal residence as an employment permit holder lead to long-term residency, a 5-year permission to work without a permit. Critical Skills holders usually move to Stamp 4 after the permit period, which also counts towards naturalisation.
The Start-up Entrepreneur Programme needs €50,000 of funding for an innovative business proposal; the application fee is €350 and proposals are evaluated quarterly. It is not open to Russian or Belarusian citizens.
Category C sponsors, such as General Employment Permit holders, need gross income above €30,000 in the previous year. Irish citizens (Category A) need €75,000 over 3 years; Critical Skills holders and researchers (Category B) have no fixed threshold.
